South Africa
Safari, surfing and sunshine
Do you dare spending one whole year at the African continent - in the worlds best climate!?
You will certainly live with a host family that has all possible comforts, and in an area which is safe and beautiful. Still you will go sightseeing, and go on safaris to watch animals like elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffalos during your year in South Africa!
Most of our students live in, our in the outskirts of Cape Town, in safe and friendly suburban towns. During the days you go to a private school and gain many new and exciting friends. The free time is focused a lot around sports and outside activities. The beaches are popular and people often spend a few hours here, for surfing or just chilling.
By the way, did you know there are 11 official languages in South Africa? The two most common are English and African. In "South African", "robot" means traffic lights, "braai" means BBQ and "ja" means yes!
Explorius currently has two students in South Africa and Jennie, one of our representatives from Sweden went to visit them and our partnering organization, You2Africa. These photos are from their end of year party at the beach, which included a picnic at sunset. The students said goodbye to the students leaving the program at the end of December. Our representative, Jennie got to meet our students and You2Africa personnel. The boys are having a great time and You2Africa does an excellent job taking care of them!
